About us

What do we do?

In the Jungschar, children and young people experience a programme consisting of creative and experience-oriented activities. Children have exciting experiences together with their leaders, mostly outdoors in nature.

Jungschar is characterised by diversity and variety, such as playing games, pioneering techniques, handicrafts, map-making, theatre, cooking, pitching tents, experiencing nature, making music and much more. Exciting stories form the framework for the Jungschi programme. The children get to know themselves and others better and are thus encouraged in their social skills. The activities in nature sensitise the children to treat the world with care.

Kids who are 5 to 10 years old are placed in the group Ajit and 11 to 14 year-olds in the group Tabor. This way, an age-appropriate program is guaranteed for every child. In addition to the Saturday afternoons, we also offer eventful camps. We carry out three camps a year: one during either Pentecost or Ascension, one during the summer holidays and one over a weekend in winter. The exact dates can be found on our yearly plan.

We meet and end Saturday afternoon programs at 14:00 and 17:00 respectively behind the Tituskirche (Im Tiefen Boden 75, 4059 Basel). The current program can be found under “Quartalsprogramm”. The Jungschi costs 75.- a year per child with a discount being offered for siblings.

What does CVJM mean? To which organisation do we belong?

We, the CVJM Jungschar Titus, belong to the CVJM also known as the YMCA/YWCA (Young Mens/Womens Christian Association). We are commonly called the Cevi in Switzerland. The Cevi is the third largest youth organisation in Switzerland. It encompasses around 14’000 members in over 200 local associations and organises over 80 training courses and approximately 300 camps every year. As a Christian and internationally oriented youth organisation, community activities and the encouraging of people’s talents are in the centre of everything we do. We want to promote Christian values that are tolerant and follow the beliefs of the county church. Despite our religious stance, we are open to all people regardless of their spiritual background. As a member of Cevi Switzerland we are part of the international YMCA and YWCA organisations with over 70 million members. More interesting information concerning the Cevi Switzerland can be found on their website: www.cevi.ch. On a regional level we belong to the Cevi Basel. More information on the Cevi Basel can be found at www.cevibasel.ch.

As a part of the Cevi we run our camps in accordance with J+S rules. Jugend + Sport is a sport-promotion program of the government.
